FFDY is fortunate that Ray Jan chose to attend a Lions Club dinner three years ago. It was there that she met board members Ben Su and Aimee Huang, and as they say, the rest is history. She invited FFDY’s angels on field grip to the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena, where she volunteers, and “the next step was to join the FFDY family.”

Ray was drawn to FFDY because of its people. “This is not just another nonprofit or support group,” she says. “FFDY is like an extended family to its members. Parents form lasting friendships, and the children become lifelong friends with the volunteers. Besides providing emotional support, FFDY offers educational seminars to parents on government regulation and healthy living, and FFDY is planning to offer more seminars to the community to share a positive attitude toward special-needs children.”

She says it is heartwarming and rewarding to see a smile on a child’s face and to know that she helped make a difference. “I also feel the potential in the children. There are endless possibilities, and I hope to be part of their life and grow with them.”
