Mark Chang

Mark Chang’s commitment to FFDY runs deep. As the organization’s first president and one of its founders, he helped FFDY grow from a few families to more than 60 today. He is virtually a full-time volunteer – and no task is too large or too small. Need help planning a major event? Ask Mark. Need help with cleanup after the event? Mark’s there.

“People like Mark are the glue of FFDY,” says fellow board member Ben Su. “He is so low key you might overlook his contributions, but those of use who know him realize just what a good man he is and what a difference he makes.”

A stay-at-home dad, Mark spends much of his time tending to the needs of his sons, Thomas and Travis, who both have Fragile X syndrome. His wife, Sharay, works as an administrative assistant.

“They’re great boys,” he says. “They’ve come a long way, and they bring us such great joy.”

He encourages prospective parents to get a blood test to determine whether there is a genetic predisposition to Fragile X.
